What is Port Scanning?

Port scanning checks which network ports are open on a host, revealing what services are running and accessible.

Common ports:

  • 80, 443 - HTTP/HTTPS (Web)

  • 25, 587 - SMTP (Email)
  • 3306 - MySQL Database
