Privacy
No accounts, no cookies from us, no database of your lookups.
What runs where
- In your browser only: the subnet, IPv6, CIDR, wildcard, IP-to-decimal and IPv4-to-IPv6 calculators, and the traceroute analyser. What you type there never leaves your device.
- On our server (Vercel): DNS, WHOIS, IP, MAC, port, ping, SSL and HTTP header lookups. The domain, IP or URL you enter is sent to our server function, which queries public DNS resolvers (Cloudflare, Google, Quad9 and others), the registries' RDAP servers (located via IANA's bootstrap files), or connects to the host you named. We don't keep a log of queries beyond Vercel's standard short-lived request logs used for debugging and abuse prevention.
- AI explanations: only when you press an "Explain" button, the result or pasted text is sent through Vercel AI Gateway to a language model to generate the answer. It isn't stored by NetKit.
- Your IP address is read from your connection to show it to you on the "what is my IP" page and to rate-limit abuse. It isn't stored.
Stored in your browser
To save retyping, each tool remembers your last six lookups in your browser's localStorage under the key netkit:recent. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Analytics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics, a cookieless analytics service, to count page views and see which tools are useful. It does not use cookies or build cross-site profiles.
Acceptable use
Only test hosts you own or are allowed to test. Port checks and scans are rate-limited and restricted to public addresses.
